After securing the shipment in the first part of Price of Freedom, Vito once again needs your help. This time, the stakes are higher - Joe and Sue must escape Dominion City before the Order catches up to them. Their only chance at survival lies beneath the city, in the dangerous tunnels of the radioactive pit. Having the right Borderlands 4 Weapons will protect you well.

This walkthrough covers every step of the Price of Freedom Pt. 2 mission in Borderlands 4, including objectives, puzzle solutions, combat tips, and all rewards for completing the quest.

    Mission Overview

    Quest Giver: Vito

Location: Dominion City – The Pits

    Recommended Level: 25+

Rewards: XP, Cash, Random Shield, Unlocks "Price of Freedom Pt. 3"

    Main Objectives:

Help Joe and Sue open the hatch.

Release the steam blocking their path.

Reach and open the emergency hatch.

Meet Vito at the rendezvous point.

    1. Help Joe and Sue Open the Hatch

Once you accept the mission from Vito, he'll explain that Joe and Sue are hiding beneath the club district, trying to reach the maintenance tunnels that run under Dominion City. Follow your map marker to the lower levels of the club, where the pair is waiting.

As you enter the access area, you'll find Joe and Sue standing by a sealed hatch on the far side of a small room. They can't open it from their side - they need you to power up the generator nearby.

Unfortunately, the generator's missing its battery, so your first task is to find a new one.

    Finding the Battery

Turn to your left and look across the broken walkway to a small nook in the corner. There's a battery dispenser mounted on the wall there. Cross carefully - the path is unstable and there are a few Kratches (winged scavenger enemies) hovering around the area.

Take them out of range if needed, then grab the battery and make your way back to the generator. Insert it into the slot, then head to the switch panel on the right-hand wall.

Flip the switch, and the generator will roar to life, activating the power for the hatch mechanism. Joe and Sue will thank you and start moving deeper into the tunnel system.

    2. Follow Joe and Sue Through the Pit

You can't follow them directly through the same hatch, so you'll need to take an alternate route along the exterior.

Look to the left of the observation window, where there's a narrow walkway leading over the radioactive pit. Move carefully - some sections of the floor are broken, and the glowing waste below will deal heavy radiation damage if you fall in.

As you progress, you'll see Joe and Sue appear in the next chamber ahead, visible through a grated window. Unfortunately, they're trapped by thick steam flooding the passage ahead of them.

    3. Release the Steam

To help them pass safely, you'll need to vent the area by shooting five weak spots on the surrounding pipes. These weak spots are easily identified by their red glowing seams and occasional bursts of steam.

Start on the left side of the room and work your way clockwise:

    Pipe above the doorway.

Large pipe behind the railing on the right.

Small pipe section near the floor by the vent.

Overhead pipe running along the catwalk ceiling.

Pipe near the console at the far end of the walkway.

Once you've shot all five, the steam will release with a loud hiss, clearing the air for Joe and Sue. You'll hear Joe shout a quick "Thanks!" through the comms, and the pair will continue forward into the next tunnel section.

Now it's time for you to catch up.

    4. Reach the Emergency Hatch

Keep moving along the fragmented walkway ahead. The next area is more treacherous, filled with broken flooring, floating platforms, and toxic runoff. Use your boost or slide-jump abilities to Borderlands 4 Character Power Leveling cross gaps where needed.
