As usual, playbooks have been updated, but that isn't all. A feature called Play Sheets has been added, and it allows players to add extra plays to their playbooks.
Trainer roles and abilities will now impact how they manage players' Wear & Tear, which is now a big part of Franchise mode. It makes the mode more realistic and forces players to manage their squad in a careful and clever way.

Are These Changes Enough To Satisfy The Franchise Mode Community?

But taking into consideration past years, it's very likely these are just minimal changes to the Franchise mode, as it would be incredibly surprising if they managed to revitalize it.
I hope I'm wrong, but it does feel like just a new coat of paint that will mask the problems Franchise mode has had for years. But only time will tell if that is the case.
